In 2014, if you applied for a tax subsidy with the government and applied for Individual Health Insurance through healthcare.gov, you will automatically be renewed for 2015. There are a few important items you should note when renewing.

First, if you know or can estimate your 2015 household income, and it is either more or less than what you made in 2014, then you will want to either log-in to your healthcare.gov application and re-submit the app with the new estimated income amount, or, you can call healthcare.gov at 800-318-2596. If you have any questions about this, please contact us at 847-577-1970 and we would be happy to guide you through this process.

If you know or can estimate that your 2015 household income will be the same as what you made in 2014, then you do not have to do anything. Your tax subsidy and health insurance will automatically renew at the 2015 rates.

Finally, if you would like to discuss changing your plan, we suggest contacting us first to go over all of your options. After we have talked and selected a new plan for you, you will have to contact healthcare.gov to have the new plan enforced.

Since this is all new to everybody, please do not hesitate to contact your agent for help at 847-577-1970.

Loan and Lease Gap Coverage is a type of coverage that is used when you purchase or lease a new car. The second you take your vehicle off the lot, it starts depreciating in value. Sometimes, the actual cash value of the vehicle will be less than the loan. In the case of a total loss, this coverage will pay out the balance of the loan.

At Arlington Insurance Services, we feel this is beneficial coverage when it comes to adding a new car. We don’t want our clients to have to pay out of their pocket to pay the loan if the vehicle gets totaled. If you recently purchased a new car or are thinking about it, please contact your agent and we can discuss the costs to add the coverage.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your agent at Arlington Insurance Services.

As the January 1st  effective date approached and passed, many people were left wondering how they should pay for their monthly premiums and how to obtain their ID card. Due to the large number of applicants, Blue Cross Blue Shield is behind in getting out invoices and ID cards to the insured.

If you are still waiting for your ID cards, we have contacted Blue Cross Blue Shield and they have advised that customers should start receiving their ID cards in the mail by mid to late January.

If you are one of the many people who have not heard from Blue Cross Blue Shield or received a bill, don’t fret. Blue Cross Blue Shield has extended the deadline to pay the first months premium until January 10th . There are three ways to make your payment: You can call the billing department at 800-792-8595, you can pay by credit card by calling 866-654-8569, or you can mail in your payment at:

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois
P.O. Box ZZ
Chicago, IL 60690-3690

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your agent at Arlington Insurance Services.

Even though the January 1st  effective date has passed, open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act is open until March 31st of this year. If you need any help with walking through the website or picking a Health Plan that fits your family’s needs, please contact us. As many of you know, Healthcare.gov is the website for the Affordable Care Act. This is the portal that will help you select your coverage and fill out information to qualify for the tax subsidy. Lately, we have been hearing many complaints about how people are being timed out or not even being able to sign on. Do not worry, you are not alone. Thousands of people have attempted and have been unsuccessful. We have been telling our customers to keep checking the news and continue checking back with us until we hear the website is up and running.

In the news this week, President Obama did mention that Healthcare.gov should be operational by 11/30/2013. This means that we will be contacting our clients and new clients when it is time to start applying for the Tax Subsidy/Premium Credit.

So, in the meantime, just sit back, relax, and know that you are not alone.
